Besides steadily getting worse and worse in math, dealing with Lovino, and getting crapped on by a hamster, I got through 5th grade relatively unscathed.
I opened the next year book remembering how much changed when I entered middle school. We got to use lockers, met new teachers, new classmates and Lovino had started to actually be nice to me. Though it wasn't just school that was changing for me.

"Have fun!" said my mom.
"Kay, bye." I said, getting out of the car. I waved to her as she drove away. I turned to look at the school.
Since I really had nothing better to do, I had decided to go to my school's middle school dance. Felicia, Eduard, and almost everyone in my class was going, so I thought I might as well go too.
As I made my way to the gym, I tried to find my friends or at least someone from my class. I guess I'd spaced out while looking for them, since someone started waving their hand I front of my face.
"_________," said Eduard. "You ok?"
"Oh, I-I'm fine." I said backing away a bit.
"If you say so." he said. "Let's go look for Felicia, she said she would be here soon."
"Kay."
By the time we found Felicia, the DJ had already put on a slow song for some of us to dance too.
I laughed as I watched as some of the boys in my class ask the girls to dance. Some were just doing it for the heck of it, like Bella and Mathias, while others seemed genuinely happy to be asked to dance, like Roderich and Elizabeta.
By the middle of the song, every girl in my class had been asked to dance. Except for me.
I watched from the side of the gym, and couldn't help feeling a bit left out. Until I saw a certain blonde with glasses came up to me. "Eduard?"
"I'm not really used to this many people in one place." he said, leaning against the wall next to me. "Why're you here, hasn't anyone asked you to dance?"
I shook my head. "No, not yet."
He seemed to think for a bit. "Do you want to dance with me?"
I looked up at him, surprised. "Really?"
He nodded, smiling. "Sure, I bet it'd be better than leaning on the wall for the next hour. Plus you looked a bit left out and...well, I haven't really danced with anyone else either." he said, rubbing the back of his head.
I laughed at how familiar the situation was. "Then in that case, sure I'd love to."
For the next few minutes we just danced with each other, one of my hands on his shoulder and the other held in his.
After the song was over, we both realized that the dance was minutes from being done. He said a quick goodbye before running off to find Ravis or Toris, and for the rest of the night, I couldn't take my thoughts off us dancing together.
